Applying computer science to community projects

A Northeastern University Oakland summer program for rising 11th and 12th grade students

Northeastern University Khoury College of Computer Sciences

June 22 - July 16, Mondays - Thursdays, 9:30am - 2pm

Summer 2026

Our goal

Our goal is to work with a small number of community-minded students to build projects that address issues in their communities. Each student participant will bring their own passion and expertise, and we will work together to figure out how computer science can be used to help address an issue in their area.

Example project areas include promoting animal welfare, working with local government, improving K-12 education, or building tools for local small businesses. Student participants are not required to have prior computer science experience, but they are expected to bring passion for a community issue.
